Note: if you have paid for an extra night's accommodation in order to arrive on Sunday 27th July, this section does not apply. Please refer to "Arrival Instructions (Sunday)", below, instead.
Registration and check-in will be at Building 85 on Highfield Campus at the University of Southampton (more precisely: 50.936560, -1.395533), and is open from 0930 to 1000. On arrival, you will be given a name badge (which you should wear for the week), and you will be able to check into your room with your luggage. If you are going to be arriving late, please contact us in advance on the Taster Course telephone number, which has been emailed to you.
If you are arriving by car, we have reserved the Avenue Campus Car Park at SO17 1BF (50.928563, -1.403828). Members of course staff will direct you to the registration building, which is fifteen minutes away on foot. If you are arriving by train, the U1A bus from Southampton Central will take you to Highfield Campus directly. For further information about bus services in Southampton, visit https://www.unilinkbus.co.uk/ . Please note that we are unable to offer any parking facilities to students, outside of blue badge holders and other exceptional circumstances.
If you are arriving by public transport, fast trains from London and Bournemouth/Weymouth typically stop at both Southampton Central and Southampton Airport Parkway stations. Trains from Portsmouth and Bristol/South Wales stop at Southampton Central. You can find details of routes and timetables on the National Rail Website. National Express provides a regular coach service to Southampton and some services stop near Highfield Campus at the University of Southampton. Please check their website for more information.
Highfield Campus is three miles from Southampton Central Railway Station, and two miles from Southampton Airport Parkway Railway Station. You can continue your journey to the University's Highfield Campus from the coach and train stations using our own Unilink bus service or by taxi (fares from the city centre are around £15). You are able to pay using contactless card payment.
