About Us

Our popular Electronic and Computer Science Taster Courses have been running successfully for many years. They are a great way of finding out more about subjects which are the cutting edge of technology and to explore whether this sector is right for you. Below is a list of related staff so you can see who is running the course. This course is being organised and run by:

Dr Geoff Merrett, Course Leader

Geoff is an associate professor, and Head of the Centre for IoT and Pervasive Systems. His interests are in energy-efficient and self-powered IoT devices and networks.

Dr Alex Weddell

Alex is a lecturer in the Smart Electronic Materials and Systems group, with research interests in IoT power, energy harvesting, and lifetime. He leads the EEE technical content on the Electronics and Computer Science Taster Course.

Dr Jon Hare

Jon is a Lecturer in the Vision, Learning and Control research group in the School of Electronics and Computer Science. He leads the computer science technical content for the Electronics and Computer Science Taster Course.

Dr Dan Spencer

Dan is the programme leader and admissions tutor for our Biomedical Electronic Engineering degrees, and leads the technical content of the Biomedical Electronic Engineering Taster Course.

The course also receives the support of Professor Bashir Al-Hashimi and Professor Paul Lewin.
